Saif Ali Khan, Pratik Gandhi and Deepak Dobriya to team up for Netflix India film
As per the latest reports of Peeping Moon, Nikkhil Advani will be producing the film under his Emmay Entertainment banner. The film is under pre-production and the filming will begin April-May 2025.
The Netflix Original will showcase the story of India’s First General Election, which took place between October 25, 1951, and February 21, 1952, and signalled the start of democratic rule in the newly independent India. As holding elections was extremely difficult and neither the people nor the administration had any past experience with the democratic process, holding elections was extremely difficult.
In the film, Saif Ali Khan will portray the role of Sukumar Sen, the first Chief Election Commissioner of India. His character as an Indian Civil Services (ICS) officer will witness the elections alongside two Regional Election Commissioners and a Chief Election Officer for each state.
Rahul Dholakia’s directorial film preparation is already underway. This project will mark Saif’s first collaboration with Rahul since their earlier attempt with Agni fell through due to scheduling conflicts. This film also marks Saif’s third collaboration with Netflix India, following Sacred Games and the forthcoming Siddharth Anand production, Jewel Thief: The Red Sun Chapter.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dholakia is all set for the release of his next firefighter drama, Agni. It will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 6. On the other hand, Saif has an investigative drama, Kartavya with Red Chillies Entertainment, and the fourth installment of his popular Race movie franchise.
